When we examine the same week this year and compare it to the corresponding week in 2019, we see that the supply is around 50% lower. In other words, there are only about half as many homes for sale now as there would typically be.
What does this mean for you? The market is far from being in balance. Demand for homes remains high, and the limited housing supply amplifies this demand. As Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist at the National Association of Realtors (NAR), explains:
“The market can easily absorb a doubling of inventory.”

This scarcity of available homes means that if you choose to sell now, your house will be in the spotlight.
